Thanks to Melanie (aka @modernmami) and no one else signing up, I won two tickets to the Central Florida Home and Garden Show!

Jeff and I went on the last day of the show, Sunday, March 17th. We walked around for a bit looking at everything that there to be looked at. The best part was — since Jeff and I look “so young”, I guess none of the vendors thought that it was possible for us to be homeowners..so none of them bothered us with, “Would you like to see our wonderful, smart, excellent, awesome product that you can only buy at THIS home show for half price!”

About half way through, Jeff spotted Tom Sorrells at the WKMG area, so he stopped to talk him to about Twitter.

Tom

I remembered seeing that Louis Petrozza from Hell’s Kitchen was going to be there! Sure enough, we walked around the corner and there he was! I cut through all kinds of companies’ set ups and headed straight to where Petrozza was doing a cooking demo. We walked in when he was almost done with the cooking, but then he passed out the dish that he cooked. So I figured it was my opportunity to get some pictures of him — AND get one with him..which I DID!

1970. What?!

Tuesday morning when I woke up, I was completely scared out of my mind. What do you mean I have to go sit in the dentist chair for THREE hours? Ugh. It was time for my first crown. I arrived a bit early. I sat and waited…and waited…and waited. Finally a bit after 10:00 they called me back.

I had given the receptionist my new “discount” card — to which she came back to me and said “Our insurance department has to call your insurance company to make sure that you can use both.” To which I blankly stared at her and then said, “But..I don’t have insurance.” About 5 minutes later, a different lady came back and informed me that my insurance was still active and that I was better off using it. After trying to tell her that I didn’t work at Disney full time anymore and my insurance was canceled almost a full year ago, she abruptly stopped me and said, “You have insurance and Melanie and Ashley still have insurance as well. I just got off the phone with your insurance company.”

HOLD UP! Did she just say Melanie and Ashley?! Huh? So I asked who they were and she proceed to tell me that they were my kids. …………. Interesting. She then said, “Your birthday is November 18th, 1970 right?” No offense to ANYONE, but I ALWAYS get ID’d and I don’t believe I could EVER pass for 38. I’m 23. Yeah yeah, “you’re just a baby.” I hear it all the time. I get it.

“Kelly Walker” is a very common name. I went to school with a girl named that, she used to always get in trouble and they would call ME to the office and I would have to tell them “You’ve got the wrong Kelly Walker”, which just seems like a lie in itself! Being a Kelly Walker is hard work.

So that’s how my visit started — I was sure it was going to go down hill from there. Thankfully it did not. MY dentist is wonderful. I started asking a couple of questions (ie. “Why are you putting a string in my mouth right now?”) and he explained pretty much everything to me after that. Super nice guy and along with him, the hygienist was great!

Besides being shot in the mouth three times and being numb for about 7 hours and continuing to have pain – my temp crown is in and it’s as wonderful as ever. Thank you Dr. Nordman!

My mouth does not look like this anymore! No more pointy edges on my tooth!

For those not “in the know” — that’s reads “There was a St. Patrick’s Day tweet-up at Izea”.

Welcome!

Lots of green beer, Rockband and pizza. What more could one ask for at a tweet-up? Alright, I guess there were some nice people there as well.

Izea had “Show Me Your Shamrocks” t-shirts made for St. Patrick’s Day and the first 20 people that showed up got them. And yes! Jeff and I both got one! Woohoo!

I met some new tweet-ers: Rae Hanson, Mitra Sorrells, Tom Sorrells, and Philippa Channer. And then there were the “regulars” that I’ve met before, but it’s always a pleasure to see: Carri Bright, Ashley Edwards, Ted Murphy, Anthony Richardson, Melanie Edwards, Susan Payton, Shawn Roberts, Ross McCoy and David Bain. (sorry if I left you off — I tried SUPER hard to think of everyone!)

Oh and sorry about “yelling” at you, Andrew Beard, when you guys were trying to get TedTube up and running in the lounge-y area. (MAC TO THE RESCUE!)

Come on TedTube!

Our paper tweets from the @elross kiddos.

Paper Tweets!

Thanks to everyone at Izea for a wonderful time! And hopefully next time Jeff or I will have learned how to be XSHOT MASTERS! (Thanks to Ted for the help!)

Currently Reading — The Woods by Harlan Coben

I have not been reading nearly as much as I like to. But the latest book that I have been reading makes me not want to put it down! The Woods by Harlan Coben is a wonderful written mystery. As soon as you figure something out, of course, something else HUGE happens and you just HAVE to know what happens. Which is what makes this so well written.

The Woods

The back cover of the book reads:

“County prosecutor Paul Copeland is still getting over the loss of his sister twenty years ago — the night she walked into the woods, never to be seen again. Now, as Cope struggles to raise his six-year-old daughter alone and try one of the biggest cases of his career, evidence links him to a man who has been viciously murdered. The victim could be the boy who disappeared along with Cope’s sister. And, as hope rises that his sister cold still be alive, dangerous secrets from his family’s past threaten to tear apart everything he’s been trying to hold together..”

The Woods has a couple of inner stories that go side by side along with the main story line.

I have finished the book! And it has a WONDERFUL ending — not something that you really see coming at all. I can not WAIT to read another Harlan Coben book!

If you are interested in mystery books I HIGHLY recommend The Woods.

Harlan Coben has written many other books — including a series of 9 books about a man named Myron Bolitar (the newest one to be released March 31st). I have read two of those books and can not wait to read the others!
