On Saturday morning (6/27), I woke up and thought..well it’s going to be a long day and I’m not sure when we’re getting home, so I’ll do the Active now. A week ago, that just would NOT have happened! It’s crazy to think what a little Wii “game” can do. And I LOVE it!
-Day 4 on the Active – burned 145.2 calories in 18:07. 18/18 activities completed.

I then skipped my birthday because we were hardly home and then last night, I just wasn’t feeling up to it.

This morning I got some stuff done for the website while watching tv and then decided it was time to get my exercise in.  Completed 18/18 activities in 16:17 minutes on the Active, while burning 138.1.
Gazelle – did 3 miles in 42:56 and I burned 375.1 calories.

I’m feeling pretty good! And I’m going to be getting ready soon to go get my friend and go have dinner since our birthday plans kind of got sidetracked when we didn’t go to Universal. :(

Griffin Clarifi iphone Case

A couple of weeks ago, my old iphone case started to crack. Though I did love the case and it held up quite well for a while, I didn’t want the same case again (bor-ring!).

After a couple of different trips to the Apple store, I decided on a somewhat new case. The Griffin Clarifi.

Griffin Clarifi iPhone Case from Kelly Walker on Vimeo.

It does what any other iphone case SHOULD do – protects it from my small slippery hands. And it keeps the back from not getting all scratched up. The bottom portion of the case slides over to meet/lock with the top 3/4 of the case. It’s not as “easy” as snapping the case on and going. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not difficult at ALL to put on, but I think it protects it a bit better with how the case covers everything. My only complaint when I was putting on the case was that it started to mess up and bubble my iphone screen protector. (I didn’t put on the screen protector that came with it because I like having the matte finish.) Now that the case is on and has been on for a couple of weeks, I’m still not real happy with what it did to my screen protector. There weren’t any bubbles or anything before this case.

On to what makes this case so great.

You can get quite close to things without them being blurry! :)

The little tiny lens that is built into the case that can go over the camera. What is this lens for? Well, it’s to help with close-up/macro pictures. As of this moment, the lens is still a little difficult to move back and forth with ease, but I’d rather it be like that than sliding all over the place.

I did a ’survey’ on twitter and out of the 850 people that follow me, 3 answered:
“What do you look for in a case?” The answers – protection of my phone, functionality, and whatever I can find. All fine answers.. Is there that ONE “must have” that your case has to pass the test before you’ll even consider buying it.

My “must have” is a “must not be” – my case must not be silcone, or anything that dirt will stick to. That just drives me crazy. Also, I don’t want anything bulky. I like being able to put my phone in my pocket. Which means, I also don’t want a belt clip.

This morning I failed to get up early like I had planned. I wanted to get 30 min on the Gazelle before work. But as I woke up at 7:30AM to accomplish that, I realized how sore my legs were from yesterday’s exercise. So…I went back to sleep.

But even though I “failed” with that, I did NOT go anywhere for breakfast, which means I saved money AND calories! So yea! And I brought my lunch today, which is a leftover pork burger that Jeff made last night (with no bun) and a single serving of broccoli and cheese. Then for my afternoon snack, I brought a Green Giant single serving of corn, which I also had last night for dinner.

Day 3 of EAS Active has been taken on for the day!
15:48 minutes, 113.7 calories, 16/16 activities
And then because I was still feeling up for it, I did a few more activities: 4:17 minutes, 25.8 calories, 4/4 activities

Gazelle: 30:05 min, 254.2 calories burned, 2.09 miles

When you didn’t think I could get anymore honest and open..here goes!

When I graduated high school 6 years ago, I was about 85 pounds lighter. I honestly have no idea how I get to this size. I guess when I moved away from home I thought “ha, well no one can tell me when to eat” and it probably grew from there. Plus, after our accident I stopped walking as much due to knee pain, which doesn’t help. So here it begins. Again. Because I’ve done the “I’m gonna lose weight” thing many times before and I just never stick with it. But MAYBE if I put it out here for the world to see I’ll feel bad if I DON’T keep it up.

I’ll be tracking my food and exercise through sparkpeople.com

There are going to be good days where I am under my calorie allotment, and then other days I’m going to regret. Thankfully, I stopped drinking as much soda about 3 years ago and then about 1 year ago I gave it up completely. I haven’t had a drop. But don’t think it isn’t tempting when Jeff brings Mountain Dew and Sunkist into the house. (Those were my choice of poisons!) I drink quite a bit of water and some juices and teas. (I need to start drinking more loose teas. I have a ton at the house, but for some reason it’s just sitting.)

Plus, my pedometer which is normally ALWAYS in my pocket, yeah well, the battery died. I need to get a battery TONIGHT so I can keep track of my steps and also do the gazelle.

And it begins…

Yesterday, June 23, I started the EA Sport Active — Day 1 – 14 min, 132 calories.

Got home and got on the Gazelle, did 30 min, burned 255.7 calories, 2.1 miles
Then did 18/18 activities on the EAS Active, burned 166.7 calories in 21:18 min.

I pulled a no-no and went through Burger King for breakfast, there goes 890 calories right there!
Lunch I had 2 of the Green Giant single serving carrots & broccoli, which are quite filling! That totaled to 120 calories.
Dinner will be a homemade pork burger and another Green Giant single serving of veggies.

Peak Family Vacation 2009

Jeff’s family came down from Kentucky to Florida for a vacation. We did the theme park thing, shopping thing and other Disney stuff. And they went to the beach for the day while Jeff and I worked.Everyone

Monday night involved birthday gifts for Jeff and myself from his family and also lots of pictures of Jeff’s son. The biggest thing was the letter that Jeff’s parents have had since he was under a year old. The letter was from his biological parents. I can guarantee that you will never in your lifetime read a letter as heartfelt and wonderful as the one Jeff’s biological parents wrote him when he was 5 weeks old.

Tuesday was spent at Animal Kingdom. It was so freaking hot that we came back to the house for a few hours, had dinner and then headed out to Epcot to see the countries and fireworks. I guess that just wasn’t meant to be because it got quite dark and stormy as SOON as we walked in. We quickly got something to drink at the pub and then ran over to the “shoppes” in England and sat most of the storm out in there. Once park closing came around, it was still storming so we headed back to the car. Thank GOODNESS we got a close parking spot (as close as you can get at least)!

Our next big day out was full of popcorn from Kernel Encore and Jeremiah’s. Along with Jeff’s sister getting her 2nd piercings for her 16th birthday and then lots of walking around Downtown Disney!

All in all, I’m pretty sure everyone had a good time.

Soar Into Savings This Summer With SeaWorld

There isn’t any other theme park in the state of Florida that has a roller coaster as exciting as the theme park itself.

SeaWorld

SeaWorld is in the theme park capital of the world, Orlando, Florida. This summer they opened their newest roller coaster, Manta! You become a manta and literally fly laying face down over SeaWorld. I got the chance to ride Manta and let me tell you — you MUST go to SeaWorld and ride this ride, NOW! Plus, they have many other rides, including Kraken, another exciting coaster. And LOTS of animals. Not to mention.. SHAMU! Oh and my personal favorite, Clyde and Seymour.

Manta

SeaWorld is such a short drive from anywhere in Florida (and also Georgia and Alabama), you can drive to Orlando for the weekend, enjoy a lovely day at SeaWorld doing Manta over and over again and then the very next day go right across the street to Aquatica or to Tampa to visit Busch Gardens — for free! Yep, SeaWorld has such a great deal right now – you buy one day at SeaWorld and you get another day at Aquatica or Busch Gardens, on them! I’ve NEVER seen another theme park have this great of an offer. And I bet, no other park ever will.

Tom & Dan

Aside from their “day job”, as I heard it called so much last night, Dan & Tom have a podcast, ever so cleverly called, A Mediocre Time With Tom and Dan.

Every Friday (mostly), it’s the two of them — taking calls, listening to voicemails, talking about the most random and funniest things, and drinking a beer or two or three…or four. Such a simple approach to a podcast, but it’s great. Keeps lots of people entertained and makes Fridays all the better!

Thursday, June 11, was the first, of what we hope, many meetups. 903 Mills Market was taken over by lots of Tom and Dan listeners and pre-Magic game cake.

Since Jeff and I will be watching the game from outside the Amway Arena tonight… I am now torturing myself with pictures from when we went to game 4 LAST time. Tear.

I’ll be yelling at f’n Kobe and everyone else from, well, somewhere not in the O-rena! (Unless someone falls deadly ill and can’t go to the game *cough*Justin*cough*)

The Community

Every Friday night I watch ‘The Soup’ because Joel McHale makes me happy. Starting this fall, Joel McHale will make me happy on two days (unless his new show is on Friday!)

‘The Community’ takes us to a community college — which apparently has a bad stipulation for the type of people that go to them (I learned something new today) — with a group of people whom are in all different stages of life. Plus, did I mention.. Joel McHale is in it. McHale stars in ‘The Community’ as Jeff, a lawyer who loses his degree.

Jeff made Tommy, Ashley and myself #beatla shirts, to which we sported around Tampa for Sunday’s Magic game.

It was funny to see people trying to figure them out.. I think the whole ‘#’ thing through them off!

They are wonderful shirts and I wish I had a different one for every day of the week!!

Do you have a homemade shirt that you LOVE?! Post a link to it in the comments!
