Check out the pictures section for more on Jeff’s birthday party!

Saturday, July 25, 2009 was named T.U.O.T.Y. by Ross. (‘Tweet Up Of The Year’) Though it really wasn’t a tweet up per se, more of a group of friends, that just happened to be some people we’ve met off of twitter, that came by to celebrate Jeff’s birthday.

birthday

Jeff is now 25 and he got to bring in this new age with some really great friends.

25group

Everyone started rolling in around 1. We ate some food, drank some beer, and played some Rock Band. Oh and Jenn, Daphne and I were killed in Flip Cup on the first round. Second round, not so much. We beat them so bad! First flip for each of us. :)

After lunch, everyone sang Happy Birthday and then we all dug into the wonderful red velvet cake that Pam made and also the cheeseburger cupcakes that Daphne brought with her! Both were a very special treat!

We all watched the kids play some video games while Jeff and Ross tried to beat them at Mario Kart and watched a movie, then Jeff started getting antsy for dinner. He, of course, wanted steak! Natalie went to the store and bought ALL of us steaks! Massive steaks!

Then it was time for MORE dessert. Thanks to Tommy and Ashley for supplying Jeremiah’s Italian Ice!! It was a great ending to a great day. Until Ross broke a chair….. :)

Thanks to EVERYONE that came out: Ross, Natalie and kids (Timmy, Ray & William), Geoff, Jen, Rowan, Pam, Christine, Tommy, Justin, Jenn, Daphne, Etan, Kyle, Autumn, Dan and kids, T, Amanda & Heather.

And a very special thank you to my mom for helping me out all week long and my dad for helping out the weekend before in the yard and also when he came on Friday!

Jeff had a WONDERFUL birthday and hope to do it again next year!

There are a LOT more pictures, so be sure to check them out – never know if I got a picture of you!

Ultimate IZEAFest Prize Pack!

Go To IZEAFEST 2009IZEA Insider Drew Bennett (aka BenSpark) is crew leader of the “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” Crew and he has created the “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” Blog to spotlight all the latest IZEA info as well as crew members. Crew members are invited to participate in crew interviews. Spotlighting bloggers on the crew is the main objective of this blog and who better to spotlight a blogger than the bloggers themselves. Each interview gives a unique perspective on the challenges and accomplishments of the members of the “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” IZEA Insider Crew.

BenSpark is also trying to help his crew by creating unique opportunities on SocialSpark including the latest, a SocialSpark CPC opp for his Ultimate IZEAFest Prize Pack Contest. This opportunity is only open to members of the “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” IZEA Insider Crew.

If you would like to go to IZEAFest this year but you don’t have a ticket, why not win one. “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” IZEA Insider Crew Leader BenSpark has three passes to give away. Not satisfied with only giving away passes he’s recruited sponsors to give away even more. Three people will win IZEAFest passes but one very lucky blogger is going to win The Ultimate IZEAFest Prize Pack.

BenSpark teamed up with many of his favorite sponsors and bloggers to gather many of the 10 essential items for IZEAFest to put into a very special prize pack. The prizes range from an xshot camera extender to an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. However, Runner up winners will also get prize packs of their own.

The biggest prize of course is the IZEAFest ticket itself. With this pass the blogger is going to get more than they can imagine. This includes a welcome party at Busch Gardens to a blogger takeover day at SeaWorld, all included in the ticket. But also you will be part of a very intimate gathering of bloggers, the number of attendees is limited to 300 so this is pretty exclusive. You will more likely be able to chat with speakers like Brian Clark (copyblogger), Chris Brogan and even IZEA CEO Ted Murphy in a setting like this than any other blogger conference all year.

Jeff’s birthday is on Saturday. And we are having people over to the house, FINALLY! So this will be doubling as our house warming party. :)

Here’s what I have left to do before people show up on Saturday at 1:
17 loads of laundry - DONE
Clean the house from TOP to bottom – DONE
Get more pictures hung up – a little more to go
Clean off the memory cards for all the cameras because I will be taking a CRAP ton of pictures – clean cards a go!
Give the cat a tranquilizer so she doesn’t freak out when people show (ok I won’t be doing that.)
Figure out how many people are coming (so RSVP people!!) – have a general idea
Find recipes that are easy enough to make – making way on the food
Grocery shop (after people RSVP, see how this works out..) – doing that in about a hour..
Wrap Jeff’s gifts – soon!
Get other shopping done – DONE

All of this while running day-to-day life, ie. working and trying to find more work.

Oh and I MUST get my car aligned this week as well. Sigh. – Taking car today!!!!

MOSI Tampa opened up a new exhibit on July 10, 2009. It’s by Cartoon Network and most of the CN characters are there! This exhibit is included in your MOSI admission.

You can learn how animation is done, see cel animation, see hand-drawn art from Hanna-Barbera, and also be a part of a Bullet Time effect aka the “Matrix Effect”.

You’ll learn what storyboards are for and help put them in order from start to finish.

There are LOTS of other hands-on exhibits to check out and see exactly how the animations start and how they end up in their finally form on Cartoon Network.

Old Movies

When my grandpa passed I brought home some of his old pictures. Most of them are from movies. OLD movies. He apparently was a child actor, or a child in the background. I have tried to figure out what movie this is from, but I have NO idea. I would say it’s from the 30s or early 40s.

Any help in the right direction would be great! Thanks!

There are numbers at the bottom. Those numbers at the bottom are 1514-170.

Saturday rolled around and we decided that we needed to go across town and get some gifts. Kernel Encore was the first stop, then Total Wine, the Sam Flax and then the party started… Mellow Mushroom!

I put out an all call and we had quite a nice turn out. Though I am NOT calling this a tweetup. Because 98% of the people there I’ve seen at LEAST twice before, if not more. @Shaanx, @ValerieWare, @Kfreshness, @Schuylerza (aka Baby Shaanx), @SomaCow, @JamieExp, @SirKyle, @IAmGonzilla, @Evanzan, @Dsashin, @Etanowitz, @Elilicious, @Bananakin

And afterwards.. we went over to Justin and Jenn’s and had a wonderful evening with them and Mickey and Jamie. (As you can see from the video.) Pictures and video below, along with the rest of the pictures on flickr.

Size Matters

Nova535

The Vitale Brothers, along with lots of other artists, got a chance to present some of their work at Nova535 in St. Petersburg, FL. As the show name says “size matters”. These pieces of art were quite grand. One of them look up a LARGE portion of the wall. Although, no matter how big some of the work was, the star of the show was a piece done by the Vitale Brothers.

An excellent painting of the great Billy Mays, Jr.

And after talking to Arwen Saxon and Billy Mays III, we learned that Billy was going to be taking it home when the show ends. Which I think is the only place it belongs!

Here is some of the other art work that is up. These are just some of the pictures.
Others can be found on my flickr page.

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

stargirlStargirl. What’s the first thing that comes to mind? A girl that loves looking at the sky at night? If so, then you’re wrong! Stargirl is a high school student who is home-schooled. She ends up going to the local public school and changing EVERYTHING. The way people act, think, and do things. (Don’t want to give too much away because I feel that most everyone should read this book.)

I believe this book is on the summer reading list for schools, which means it’s a “teen” book. But what an amazing story Jerry Spinelli has written. I’ve never read anything by Spinelli before. And thankfully, my friend got me this book for my birthday and to say the least, I read couldn’t put this book down!

There is a sequel to this book called Love, Stargirl which I can not wait to get!

Looking for this book or other books, check out paperbackswap.com. You add the books you have and trade them with others! There are over 3 million books online. You can find me on paperbackswap as well!

I saw this…with my own eyes.wow

Our Fourth of July started at Epcot with our friends, Ashley and Tommy. Stopped at the pub in England, bought a couple of things and then Ashley “forced” us to be American and watch some people sing lots of songs about how wonderful are country is.

After that we went over to hang out with some other friends, Caroline and Alan. What a great way to spend a 4th of July evening. Lots of laughing, lots of “swimming”, and LOTS of beer drinking was had by all. Oh and dancing! On to the pictures and video!

I turned on the Wii this evening to complete day SIX, but when I started looking at the activities of the day, I realized I did these SAME ones 2 days before. Yes, I must have turned the Wii off too soon and it didn’t register my daily time. After I thought about it, I realized this happened to me on day four as well. So HOPEFULLY I didn’t shut the Wii off before it saved.

Either day, Day 5 (x2)
115.7 calories in 15.46 minutes, 16/16 activities

We also walked around a lot of stores yesterday, so I got quite a bit of my steps in that way. Oh and then Jeff and I played Punch Out and my arms were killing!
